Manish Khanal is a journalist, producer and documentary filmmaker.
He holds a Master of Journalism degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied documentary filmmaking and co-directed, produced and edited the film Carl Runs the Paper. The 26-minute character-driven, verité documentary tells the story of a Carl Butz, a 73-year-old widower and newfound editor working to save California’s oldest weekly newspaper: The Mountain Messenger.
Manish has a passion for local news, and he’s covered housing, public health, politics and sports in the East Bay. He currently resides in Oakland, California and is freelancing as a producer and editor on various video projects. Prior to studying documentary, Manish worked in marketing operations and gained expertise in audience targeting and engagement.
